Following the demise of our Vice President, Mr. Olufemi Ogala in November 2022, the Executive Council, at its sitting in January 2023 appointed Chief George Onwujiariri as the Acting Vice President to fill up the vacuum.
Until this appointment, Chief Onwujiariri was serving in the Council as a coopted Ex-Officio member.
Here is his brief profile
Chief George Onwujiariri hails from Ogwuama Ahiazu Mbaise in Imo State. He attended Central School Ogwuama/Obodo Ujuchi for his primary education; Secondary education at Community Secondary School Amuzi for his SSCE and the Lagos State Polytechnic where he obtained an OND Certificate.
Chief Onwujiariri is the MD/CEO of Mario Sanctus Ltd, a firm of advertising practitioners and a member company of OAAN.
He is a registered full member of APCON with over twenty years’ experience. And has been in the Executive Council of OAAN for over six years.
Chief George Onwujiariri has served in several Committees of the Association; some of which include, the Welfare Committee, Industry Debt Recovery Committee, Event Committee, OAAN Awards Committee and Membership Committee which he now heads as the Chairman.
He is a Christian, happily married with children.
And in order to fill the position vacated by Chief Onwujiariri, Mr. Alfred Akokhia was appointed.as a coopted Ex-Officio member in the Council.
This is with the aim of completing the number of Council members to 12 as stipulated in the Constitution.
Please meet Mr. Alfred Akokhia:
Akokhia, Isah Alfred was born at Adeoyo hospital eleyele in the ancient city of Ibadan in the present Oyo State South West Nigeria.
He attended Primary School in Mokola Ibadan, South Ibie Secondary School Auchi and Auchi Polytechnic Auchi in Edo State where he studied Mass Communication and obtained an Ordinary National Diploma in 1993; after which he had a stint as an attaché with APCON in the then Research and Publication Department.
Upon the completion of his one-year Industrial Attachment, he gained admission into Ogun State Polytechnic and obtained his Higher National Diploma in Mass in 1996.
He proceeded for his National Youth Service the same year and served as a reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority NTA Maiduguri in Bornu State Nigeria.
He bagged a Master of Business Administration degree in 2005 from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology majoring in Advertising and Public Relations.
He commenced his advertising career with APCON in 1999 where he was employed as the Education / Training Officer and was in charge of the APCON Certificate/ Diploma examination and training of members in the industry. He became the Membership officer between 2004 – 2005 where he coordinated the first Window of Opportunity programme of the Council.
He moved to Wetherheads International Limited as the Assistant General Manager Marketing. And rose through the ranks to became the Managing Director in 2013.
He voluntarily resigned in 2013 to form Rainbow Advertising Technologies Limited, an OOH media planning and buying company. He has been the Managing Director of the company till date.
He was a member of the OAAN Membership Committee in 2005. Member OAAN Constitution Review Committee between 2020 – 2021 and OAAN Welfare and Industry Debt Committee till date. He also served on the APCON Committee for the Review of the Code of Advertising Practice in 2021.
Alfred is married to Ololade Abdul – Akokhia and they are blessed with two children.
